ABOUT THE BVYSA BOARD

The Brandon Valley Youth Softball Association's board of directors is a group of volunteers who very generously donate their time and talents, year-round, to ensure that there is a fastpitch softball league every summer for our area softball athletes.

If you have suggestions/concerns/ or new ideas that you would like to share with the BVYSA board, they hold monthly meetings that are open to the public.  Please send an email to hope@brandonvalleysoftball.com to inform them of your interest in attending a meeting.

Tee Ball & Coach Pitch Schedule Format

To better support families and improve player experience, Tee Ball and Coach Pitch will follow a new game schedule format:

  • Weeks 1, 2, 4, and 6: Each team will play one game.

  • Weeks 3 and 5: Each team will play two games.

We hope this structure provides a more balanced schedule while still giving players plenty of time on the field.

Updated Age Groups

To ensure players are learning in an age-appropriate environment:

  • Tee Ball: Pre-K and Kindergarten

  • Coach Pitch: 1st and 2nd Grade

If you believe your child would be better placed in a different division, please reach out—we’re happy to work with families to find the best fit.

If you have any questions, please contact us. We can’t wait for another great year of Brandon Valley Youth Softball!

****Please refer to the age chart on the homepage if you have questions about whether your child is eligible to play based on their age and an age option does not appear below.****

Weather Policy

  • Each night that games are scheduled to be played, the Brandon Valley Youth Softball Association board member(s) will check the weather forecast for impending weather conditions that could affect games being played that evening. When possible, we will cancel games by 4pm.  Please keep in mind that weather is unpredictable and that we will do our best to make decisions in a timely manner to keep all our members safe.  BVYSA would like to remind all parents/guardians that they can exercise discretion to determine if the weather is unsafe for their child to play.
  • BVYSA will post the status of league games on our website,  and Facebook. Please follow/friend us!
  • If your coach uses the Sports Engine team page to communicate, he/she can send an email and a text message to team members regarding the status of games in the event of inclement weather.  You must have "enabled text messaging" in your Sports Engine account profile for your child/family to receive this type of communication.
  • In case of inclement weather during warm-ups or during the games, a horn blast means that play is temporarily halted. If the games are halted due to lightening, there will be a mandatory 30-minute game delay. All players and fans should take cover in their vehicles until weather permits restarting the games or until the games are cancelled. Games will re-start exactly where they left off. If there is a delay beyond the first 30 minutes of play, all of the games will be cancelled.
  • If the first game is delayed due to weather, the second game that night is automatically cancelled.  The reason for the cancellation of the second games, is due to the safety issue posed because there are not lights at the fields to extend play that late in the evening.

HEAT INDEX

Heat/Heat Index Rule:  During the season, the league will assess the temperature and heat index each day at 4pm.  On days when the temperature has reached 95 degrees or the heat index has reached 100 degrees at 4pm, or whenever the weather is unfavorable for practice (i.e. fields are unplayable due to rain, etc.), the league will cancel all practices.  If the league cancels practices, NO teams are allowed to practice.  The Brandon Valley Youth Softball Association utilizes http://weather.gov for official temperature.  All coaches, parents, and players can access our web site at www.brandonvalleysoftball.com  The league will notify players and coaches of cancellations or weather related announcements via email and Facebook.

During non-cancelled practice times, the decision of postponing or ending practice is ultimately up to each coach.  Good judgment should be applied in assessing the current weather conditions at the practice site.
